Some of our clients have tenancy-in-common or shared equity agreements with a land owner, whether that is a parent of some one else. Not sure about City Hall though!

Like the Ikea Malm headboard best. It's the most affordable of the pieces shown here. I hadn't run across the sliding headboard yet. That's a great idea for saving space. I do love everything about Resource Furniture but the prices. Still too rich for me. Thanks for a very informative blog.

Well, as you can see by my site name, I am also into downsizing and small houses!

For me, downsizing is really about 'right sizing'.. I mean when I first was reading your post and saw Kate had downsized to a 600 square foot home, I thought 'oh, how cute' but then whoa! She went on to say she had actually downsized from the 600 to 250! Now THAT is downsizing!

My husband and I are on a journey of having less to really have more.. which I know makes perfect sense to you. LOL

Thanks for sharing. We're working on a post about multi-generational families living in smaller spaces (sharing laneway house / main house / basement suites on one property). Look out for insights in this future post about living with family in close quarters...

I like Micheal live in a smaller space with another person (my son) and my aim is to try to live in a smaller space with another human being without making bigger riffs - sometimes it seems easier to let a lot of things go but it will always be about communicating honestly and effortlessly

I have been following your work since the inception of laneway housing concept and more recently with the samples on display in this summers' Heritage Housing Foundation 2011 Laneway Tour. You have not only an impressive portfolio but now a well produced and informative blog.
