Commercial Drive Laneway House

Designed to bridge the gap between utilitarian and stylish.
This petite laneway home was built as a pied-a-terre. The clients wanted to design something that maximized function in such a small space while selecting fun, durable interiors that would catch the eye of anyone strolling by.

The round porthole windows our designers selected were an innovative way to infuse playfulness while still capturing tons of natural light.

At the heart of the house a tight-knit living area that connects to the outdoor space by way of a westeck patio slider, encourages people to gather and swap stories at any hour.

The vibe is bright, intimate and fun.

The choice to go with corrugated steel siding on the exterior was a serious nod to the utilitarian motif as it is known to stand the test of time.
The decision to mimic black trim on both the main home and laneway home created fluid dialogue between the two structures even though there was a significant architectural departure.

With unexpected features, like a skylight view from the living room, this home is certain to capture attention.
